Listen to a story
The first time I shared my creative work as an adult was at a Moth Story Slam in Washington, DC in 2016. That put me on the trajectory to my present life. I have since earned an Acting Diploma (The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts) and an MFA in Writing (Vermont College of Fine Arts).
“Heat” takes its name from the Moth theme for that night and runs about seven minutes. It’s about a family trip to the Great Smoky Mountains to see the synchronous fireflies.
“Nine to Five” (also named after the Moth theme) takes place when I was a young government attorney about to enter into settlement negotiations in a major environmental case. Clearly outgunned by the other side, a catastrophic event intervenes that changes me and the dynamic. It runs just about five minutes.
Please note: there are brief pauses at the beginning of both recordings as the emcees adjusted the microphone down a few times so I could reach it.
